Ref. Jacob Jensen cordless doorbell

Having changed the batteries in the doorbell and receiver and before screwing on the backplanes I pressed the bell testing to see if it rings again. I was pleased that it was the case.
After screwing the backplate back to the bell it wont chime. What am I doing wrong?
